WEEKEND IN HOUSTON
I just got back from a really fun long weekend with two of my best friends from college. Elise and I (Ohioans) visited our froomie in Houston, Texas from Friday-Monday! I had a blast exploring Texas because I’ve never been before. So thank you, Maddie, for being a great host and showing Elise and I all the great things Houston has to offer.
On Friday my flight landed around 11 and we almost immediately went to lunch. I get hangry really easily so I’m glad for the quick pit stop after my 2.5-hour flight. Our first stop: Torchy’s Tacos. I got one fried avocado taco and one chicken fajita taco — delicious! Would highly recommend stopping by one in Texas.
Later Friday night, we went to Truluck’s to celebrate Maddie’s birthday that was earlier in the week. I had a fresh Caesar salad and ordered salmon with crab on top and WOW, one of the best meals I’ve had in a while. We spent the rest of the night playing Phase 10 (a card game similar to gin rummy).
Saturday
First stop: Weight and Measures
I never order fried chicken, but for some reason, I was in the mood so I ordered the cake doughnuts and fried chicken and I would 100% order it again. It came as fried chicken on a cake doughnut as a SANWICH.. genius. We spent the rest of the day exploring shops, a fun colored wall and getting pedicures at MILK + HONEY.
Let’s talk about MILK + HONEY. If you live in Houston and/or visiting, you really should consider getting all your spa + salon needs here. Maddie, Elise and I all got a pedicure, and I quite literally was so comfortable I took a few minute nap. You sit on a cushiony bench instead of a chair and they had a ton of comfy pillows for support.
We spent the rest of the day shopping and walking around Houston! We went to the cupcake ATM, but sadly we were all too full to order anything :/ Next time!
One of my favorite shops we went into was Space Montrose. They had so many unique jewelry pieces, decor and apparel pieces, and great Houston/Texas souvenirs.
We ended Saturday with a dinner at Pappasito’s, where I ate my weight in guac, queso and a quesadilla. So worth it!
Sunday
This might have been my favorite place we went to! All 3 of us got the same exact thing: Cinnamon toast and an iced vanilla latte. Also a must-see place in Houston! Such a cute place + they have a succulent wall.
We spent the rest of Saturday playing cards and laying by the pool.
Monday:
Funny enough, we took a 40-minute road trip to Bucc-ee’s. I would describe Bucc-ee’s as a large gas station that has literally anything you would need from house decor, groceries, to apparel and outdoor camping necessities.
I hoped you enjoyed my travel diary for Houston, Texas.
best wishes, be well and thrive, cam
